The Ané lab at UW Madison studies plant-microbe symbiosis and legume root nodule formation. Dr. Sanhita Chakraborty wrote a review about the transcription factors involved in nodule formation and I made a summary figure. It is being published in Plant Cell Physiology.

This was a tricky figure to draw because these are complex 3D structures being simplified for 2D. Dr. Chakraborty send me some beautiful photomicrographs from other publications to help guide my cell shape and size decisions, but there was still quite a bit that had to be left up to my intuition for common cell differentiation patterns in plants. Thankfully, I have a lot of experience with plant root cells under the microscope myself. I hope that readers will appreciate my attention to detail with this figure, and I hope many researchers will use it in their own work and presentations, (while citing Dr. Chakraborty's publication, of course!)

Dr. Chakraborty is a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to her next publication!
